Aaron N. Bailey joined Smith Debnam Narron Drake Saintsing & Myers, L.L.P. in 1999. He offers statewide representation on a variety of matters involving insurance law, subrogation, fraud recovery, commercial and retail collections, impairment of collateral by lien or impoundment, domestication of foreign judgments, claim and delivery, international collections and contracts. Mr. Bailey has appeared in more than 75 venues representing insurance companies, businesses, banks and credit providers through all stages of civil litigation and judgment enforcement. He regularly attends industry and client conferences throughout the U.S.

Mr. Bailey was one of only 57 American professionals selected as a 2006 Marshall Memorial Fellow by the German Marshall Fund of the United States. The fellowship sent Mr. Bailey to Europe in October 2006 to promote cooperation and understanding between the United States and Europe. He traveled to Germany, Belgium, Greece and Slovakia meeting with policy makers, officials and professionals. Additional details about this prestigious program can be found at http://www.gmfus.org/fellowships/mmf.cfm.

At the request of the International Affairs Council, he has provided legal seminars to visiting foreign delegations. Mr. Bailey has addressed African, Russian, Ukrainian and Afghani judges and lawyers regarding matters of civil and criminal practice and judgment enforcement in the United States while hosting several groups at his firm. Mr. Bailey is also an instructor of Continuing Legal Education Seminars on subjects such as Compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Compliance with the Servicemembers’ Civil Relief Act, Prelitigation Recovery Techniques and Compliance with the Bankruptcy Code’s automatic stay provisions.

In July of 2005, Mr. Bailey traveled to Russia at the invitation of the Udmurtia Republic Bar Association. The focus of the trip was to further develop relationships with Russia and to discuss legal systems and commerce possibilities. Mr. Bailey met the head of the Russian Lawyers Guild, the mayor of Izhevsk, the vice-president of the Udmurtia Republic and many federal, military and supreme court judges and officials. He visited several courts and government offices. On behalf of the North Carolina Bar Association and the city of Raleigh, Mr. Bailey also presented official letters of greeting to Russian officials. Mr. Bailey’s article and photos about the trip were featured as the cover story of the Jan/Feb 2006 edition of the North Carolina Lawyer titled "To Russia With Law."
